Mark photographed by one of his remote cameras in a remote forest in the Bronx
Don’t miss the opportunity to join Mark Weckel, Director of Research and Land Management, on a special guided walk through the Preserve Sunday, October 16th at 1:00pm. Hike among the beautiful fall foliage and learn about the natural history of the Gorge as well as the ongoing research currently being conducted here.
Mark along with other staff researchers and students are undertaking a number of ecological monitoring studies at the Gorge using remote cameras. Mark will be giving a demonstration of how the Gorge uses camera traps to study the population and behavior of deer, coyote, bobcats, bear and turkeys.
The hike will take approximately 1 ½ hours and will cover approximately 1.5 miles and possibly some off-trail bushwacking. Inquisitive adults and children are welcome. Hope to see you there!
