Join The Anable Society!
MRG established The Anable Society in memory of Gloria Anable and to honor those who have furthered the mission of the Mianus River Gorge by indicating a bequest or giving a major gift for land acquisition of $25,000 or higher.
Gloria Anable (1901-1988) – scientist, explorer and conservationalist – was one of the five original founders whose vision and indefatigable spirit guided the evolution of the Mianus River Gorge for more than three decades. When a 68-acre parcel in the middle of her beloved Mianus River Gorge was under threat of development, Gloria and other far-sighted neighbors rallied together in 1953 to make its purchase and designate it a wildlife preserve. Under Gloria’s direction, and with the support of our donors, the Preserve is now comprised of over 830 acres, with another 223 acres in conservation easements.
Gifts to The Anable Society help to secure the future of the Gorge and the quality of its surrounding watershed. The society is a chance for donors to leave a legacy to the Gorge and ensures that MRG will remain strong and viable in the future. All gifts to the Anable Society are added to our fund for long-term support. You can join The Anable Society by generously making:
- A bequest in your will
- Donation(s) of land or conservation easement(s)
- Donation(s) of at least $25,000 toward the purchase of land or conservation easement(s).
