Volunteers are critical to the Gorge! Please consider donating your time and talents to help us maintain our facility and fulfill our mission. We have many projects and areas needing volunteers for several hours or longer time periods such as
· Trail Maintenance
· Map Shelter Greeter
· Special Events
· River Clean Up
Your help is needed! In addition to three Volunteer Work Days scheduled for Sunday, April 22, 2018, Sunday, July 15, 2018, and September 29, 2018, MRG would like to develop “Friends of the Trails, ” a core group of volunteers who regularly participate in trail stewardship.
With a dedicated trail crew and weekend volunteer projects, MRG would have the capacity to properly steward the entire trail system, keeping it in good condition throughout the year.
Additionally, Wood Ducks nest along the Mianus River and are visible from the Red trail. Visitors are particularly delighted to come upon the striking waterfowl. Volunteers are needed to help MRG replace now defunct Wood Duck houses and build new ones in their place. Volunteers also are needed to re-build old Bluebird houses and erect new ones in the two open meadows managed by MRG.
The Gorge is a private, non-profit organization. We are not a town park, and we receive no public funding. We will never have all the funds we need to accomplish the work of stewardship for this very special and much-loved place, so we are dependent on the generosity of volunteers like you who give of their time to help care for it. Thank you!
Please contact Budd (firstname.lastname@example.org) or call the office (914 234 3455) if you are available to volunteer for these or other projects. We are truly grateful to our volunteers for their dedication to helping preserve and protect the Mianus River Gorge Preserve in so many ways! Thanks!
