Family Name – Each family should keep its own datasheet. Record your family’s last name here. Home address – A lot of your deer sightings will be made on your own lawn. By listing your address at the top, you can simply put "home" under the Location of your sighting. Phone – This is just for our records in case we need to contact you regarding your data E-mail – We would like your e-mail to give you periodic updates on the project. Observer – For each deer observation made, record who observed the deer. Date – When did you observe the deer? (e.g. 12/12/2008) Time – What time did you observe the deer? (e.g. 1:30 pm) Location – Where did you see the deer? If it was on your property, write “home.” If you saw it driving, look for the closest mailbox and record that address.
Tagged deer – If there are tagged deer, select the deer whose colar matches your observation.
What if there are 2 tagged deer?– Record both
Tagged deer should be record ANYWHERE you find them.
Untagged deer – Simply record the number of untagged deer. Record #does, #bucks, and #fawns or #unknown sex separately.
What does unknown mean? – Record a deer as unknown if its sex or age can’t be determined reliably.
I see untagged deer everywhere. Do I have to record all untagged deer? – A great question, untagged deer should be ONLY be recorded if they were sighted on or near your home
